I seem to think a lot like a Conservative but I come across and act more liberal. I am fairly easy going. But as soon as people engage in a conversation with me about my opinions I become very conservative.

My father always thought I was weird because I was quite Conservative for my age. My sister is a big time Liberal.

I steer clear of political discussions mostly because there is always one ignorant a$$ making blanket comments about which he/she knows very little.
Um, I'm independant that is.

(I hate it when I'm that a$$)

Remington

I make more of an a$$ for sure when it comes to politics.

I am not really afraid to say I disagree with killing babies in the womb regardless. I am not afraid to say that we need no justification to go to war against a lunatic that murders and tortures his own people. People have their own opinions and if they are not like mine then I respect them enough not to go out and shoot them. :D

See I just made an a$$ out of myself.
I am not trying to start a political war,
Now the killing babies thing might make a few people on the other side a little upset. (Even though I agree with all you said, just glad you said it)

Remington

Yep I know! I am close to a few people that have chosen to get rid of a baby but I still am not supportive of it. We all make decisions some bad and some good and I have made bad decisions in the past and probably will in the future.

I still care a lot about the people that made those choices but and I support them but I don't support the decision.

Some people that feel the way I do would outright disown somebody for it but I am not like that. We are all human!

OK am I digging a hole?

I can't beleive that you guys would vote for Bush again. give your head a shake! Do you think the Republican are your freinds? ( Voted #1 by stay at home dads A ha ha ha) You are confused if you think they are. I had watched your presidential debate the other nite. One word "bizzare" first of all know doubt Bush was wired they were piping him ammo to use on Kerry " Sorry that lil red neck aint that clever" he couldn't possibly regurgitate that mud that quick unless he was being coached.

I also found it shocking the fear mongering. Korea , Iran true they will aquire the A bomb. Who can blame them Your Iggnorant and egotisticle president has shown them that is the only way to get any respect. Thanks for the new Arms race Asshole. " Bring em on"

It's bizzare to watch the debate staged like a weird reality/game show "Let's make A deal "crossed with the "Price is Iran, Korean Survivor where your allies are either democrats or republicans. No other free nation would have fear as an election platform. This is not ment to insult just my observation as an Outsider.

Do you know what our election Issue were. Health care, Gay marrige, leglization of marijuna, and a national Daycare program. The liberals (democrats) won again( their 4th mandate now) they were originally elected when Bush Sr was president.

This could have easily been some of Americas Issues However; their not. Do you know why? because your president said fuck the world. and Destroyed the United Nations. He had to save the Iraqi people from your old allie. I'm sure the suffering(pre- war) Iraqi people has cost him many a sleepless nite. He'll
want to free the persuions next.

PLEASE WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!! YOU CAN'T DECLARE WAR (HELL) ON ANY NATION WITH OUT FIRST GOING THERE YOURSELF.

One More Term of Bush will head us down the road to WW3. The fall of the American Empire , Free yourselfs ,Free the world. War= hell ,Diplomecy= Peace

Ok first of all in America we are innocent until proven guilty... do you have proof that Bush was "wired?" and if so what was it besides he was very articulate, Bush is not a dumb man he did attend and graduate from Harvard in 1975 with an MBA.

I also found it shocking the fear mongering. Korea , Iran true they will aquire the A bomb. Who can blame them Your Iggnorant and egotisticle president has shown them that is the only way to get any respect. Thanks for the new Arms race hole in the ground. " Bring em on"

Ok so ( you say) we started the new arms race, and if we hadn’t of “started the new arms race” (which we didn’t we are preventing it) then all those countries would have already had the “a Bomb” and would be holding it over the countries they despise, ready to use it. George W and the American Military have made countries like Iran and Korea tread very lightly in the “new arms race” Iran once they get nuclear capabilities will destroy Israel. Korea will go after Japan and other local countries. Yet Bush is To blame? “A Bomb” technology doesn’t just happen in a country it takes years.. years before George W was in office… Most likely on the watch of the Democrats…and Mr. Clinton. Yet no one blames the dem for the way we were attacked by terrorist. No one blames Bill and the dems for the “A Bombs” that Iran and Korea and many others are producing. It may be out in public on His Watch but it was the Dems and they way they have destroyed this country (with legalizing gay marriages, gays in the military, trying to shut down or at least reduce the capabilities of the military and the intelligence agencies of the USA.)
A close friend of Bill Clintons has stated that on 9-11-2001 Mr Clinton made the remark that he had wished he was still president when the planes slammed into the twin towers.
That is just sick… to want to be on watch when it happened? Sure we need another democrat in the White House.

Do you know what our election Issue were. Health care, Gay marrige, leglization of marijuna, and a national Daycare program. The liberals (democrats) won again( their 4th mandate now) they were originally elected when Bush Sr was president.

We have the same issues…. Well except the national day care program……and here I will agree with you dadland….. the vast majority of the USA (lead by liberal news programs and a fear of the right wing) will not engage those issues.

War is hell, but peace provides Build up of anger and resentment and then you will have ww3. We did not declare war on anyone.. They declared it on us when they plowed two planes into two buildings Killing thousands of innocent people and leaving thousands of kids with out parents. They attacked us on our own home land and you defend them by saying we cant declare war until we have been there to their land.. yet they brought it to us. We have lost numerous innocent people in the USA due to terrorism and the war “Jihad” they have declared on us, numerous bombing around the world aimed at Americans, and not just military. Clinton and the dems did nothing except random acts of aggression towards the “suspect nations” Now Bush did something and we still get blamed for being bullies. If a pack of Dogs are running wild and “one” of them Attacks your daughter while she is at the park in another neighborhood and then another “one” attacks your son while he is playing in your front yard…Which one will you go after?

Bush stood up for the whole American Family in the entire world and attacked all the “Pack.”

As Americans we don’t need to Wake up…. Nor does the rest of the world, because We can all sleep peacefully knowing that the American Military (the Best and Brightest and lead by the best and brightest) is on Watch.

My two cents,
GOD bless you and Bless God America

Haven't you heard this man speak ? embarrasing to say the least ! This wasn't even a debate, it was a bipartisan media event. I don't think he is dumb, crooked mabee !

Innocent until proven guilty ? The bush administration has denied thousands of people access to a lawyer or their day in court including U.S. citizens. ( thats what they did in the soviet union )

His old man and Mr. cheney cut the military to the bone leaving them understaffed.....remember the so called peace dividends. It made my gut wrench when I saw Dick on the back of the uss new jersey to kick off his campain. When I worked for the navy the militarys motto was dick Cheney before he dicks you !

He had war plans for Iraq before 911 because of the oil its all about the oil, oil makes him and his familiy money. thats why were not over in africa
where genocide is happening

Dont get me wrong I don't think kerry is much better.....he's just looking for a horse to ride into town

remember a war president has a better chance of being re-elected. sending our sons and daugters to war is a campain strategy for the bush familiy

Its no longer we the people !

Back to the original question...

Am I conservative or liberal? That's too simple a distinction. They are not absolute states, but represent a continuum of ideas. On some issues I am more "conservative", on others "liberal". In my home town, I'd be considered pretty liberal, yet in college I was considered conservative. How can anyone be just one or the other? Why would anyone want to constrain their free thought by limiting themselves to an societal convention for how they should think?

Lately, these terms (especially "liberal") have been turned into political slurs. Many politicians and people sling them about as insults. This, to me, is both childish, and foolish. This turns these words into meaningless taunts, and thus removed any hope of discussion and progress. Our country needs both conservative and liberal sensibilities. Our society is a two-stoke engine that needs the constant pull back and forth in order to move forward. Without either, we will stall. This is one reason why I cannot support politicians who do not discuss issues, but instead turn their opposition's beliefs into schoolyard taunts.

Some good points Louis, you kept your cool too However ;There is an inornament amount of french derivatives and unecessary latinisms in your post, but hey just an observation who am I to say.

Here are some questions for tomorow presidental debate.

1. If U.S hadnt trained ossama and then abandand afganastan
after the soviets whithdrew and their intrests were served. would he have attacked the U.S?

2.Is it O.k if your then allie Sadam use chemical WMD(that the U.S gave him )on your then and still is enemy Iran?

3. Whos the U.S buddy this year ( what intrest will they serve)?

4. Why is Momar Kadafi in their good books again.(what intrest does he serve)?has he forgiven them for killing his grand daugter?

5.Why is Germany, France and Canada in perticular in your bad books
what interest did'nt they serve?surley they must be foe.

Part 2

1.If your Daddy was the director of the C.I.A and was a former president would'nt you have a privy to classified intellegence information?

2.We know that rich kids go to the front of the line. But do rich kids ever go to the front lines?

3.will the black vote count in this years election?

4 Given the back ground connections of the Bushs and the Bin ladens and the saudis and there conections in 9/11 attacks. would it be fair to all of America to elect W bush and the reighns of the most powerful military on earth? do you trust him whith your country, your children lives, your acumulated wealth, your reputation, your future, the world?

All eyes are on you america. In god we trust

All the rest of us must trust you the american voter.

Peace out Cocacola.

ok I give up and am asking help. how do I quote specific lines from a post? it's driving me batty. I can quote all but not specific lines. others do it so there has to be a way beside cutting and pasting.

one thing I got to address is the "flip flop kerry" statement by E.R.D. I can stand that spin phrase anymore. not that there's many spin phrases I can.

once upon a time I didn't want kids. couldn't stand them in fact. then I got older, started thinking some more, became less self centered. eventually I discovered the great things kids offered. now I have one, poopy diapers and all. I ain't the same person I was 10 or 15 years ago. does that mean I'm a flip flopper. or does it mean I changed and grew and my opinions changed and grew with me.

Kerry is allowed to change his opinion. and he is allowed to do so upon his own personal introspections AND the opinions of his constituents. that is his job as a politician and his responsibility as an american.

imagine every time you posted E.R.D, I replied "ERD has red hair". in a couple of months we have a poll asking what color hair you have. what do you think most people would vote? probably red hair. the bush team is smart and they have you believing Kerry is a redhead.

Hockeydad is a flip-flopper! Hockeyday is a flip-flopper!

Ah, a topic I like... Coding! Here's how to quote:

It works a little like HTML tagging, if you know that. When you post a reply (not the Quick Reply, but actually click the "post a reply button"), you'll see some buttons above where you type. Click the "Quote" once, and you'll see the tag "[ quote ]". (Those brackets make it a special command, instead of normal text. I am adding spaces here so that it will show as it normal text.) Now type or paste the text you want quoted. Then, click the Quote button again and you'll see "[/ quote ]" appear after it. (You could also just type these yagsmanually... just make sure there are no the extra spaces.)

So in your message you'd see: "[ quote ]Quote me![/ quote ]". But when posted, we'd see:
Quote me!

Please, that statement is (a) based on hearsay, and (b) taken out of context. You can't base a sound judgement on that. Nor then extrapolate that judgement to the entire Democratic party.

Want a change? Boot them both out.

www.politicalcompass.org

check it out. I don't know how accurate it is, but has a questionnaire to fill out and shows you where you stand in four political quadrants.
