Ok, I got the email I've been waiting for.

January 19th

Come whenever you want. Friday night, Saturday Morning, whatever it doesn't matter.

To keep costs down we can have everyone bring something. OR we can all chip in to cover the cost of food/drink.

I have one gas grill and one fire pit and about a cord of wood to keep us warm. I also have a brush pile I need to burn so I might just put that off for this weekend.

Porsche - Bridgeport or Fairfield...

Bridgeport has Amtrak Service....

Fairfield has Metro North...

Anyone want to carpool??? Bueller? Bueller?

Hey Pepper -

If you don't want to drive, it might be worth checking into airfare. You could probably get something cheap into Bradley (BDL). It's probably an hour ride to Jeff's, but I can pick you up and bring ya down there.

I don't doubt for a minute that my wife will 'let me go'. She is a freakin superstar. I just have this 'i am a crappy communicator' thing going and always wind up screwing up sittuations like this.

In 2003 I never really told her that I was going to NJ overnight to see Springsteen at Giants Stadium until I was packing the car. I am such a putz.

I'm a "maybe"

4-5 hours possibly more with January weather (ice, snow, sleet) might make for a tough trip. Also, my wife is a CPA, she's not a tax person but does have to get all her companies books in order so she usually works close to 60 hours a week during that time.

I know, excuses, excuses :)

Another spouse to a CPA (auditor for a public firm) -- I'd take a 60 hour week during the months of Jan-March. ;)

My wifes normal work day is 6:30am-5pm, all year round, during the first few weeks of January she justs adds saturdays and maybe a sunday or 2.

If her company sells, then I'd be in for sure, but no word if that will happen before the years out.

That's not too bad. My wife's hours during busy season (most of her clients are 12/31 year-ends, so she's busy through late March) has been more like 7:30 or so to as late as 11pm many nights. The worst day she ever had was a 33 hour day on a client that had a restatement that they needed done by 5pm on a Friday. She went in around 7am on Thursday and was done by 4pm, with only a quick stop home in between to shower. The kicker was, the company fired them as auditors two months later.

My wife is surprisingly open to this kind of stuff. I'm heading into Manhattan this weekend to attend the Big Apple Comics Convention (http://www.bigapplecon.com/) but that is just a day thing (10 am to 6 or 7 pm). Last thing I went to was the Digital Life Convention also in Manhattan. It's nice to be far enough from home (an hour by subway) that other people have to deal with the problems and can't just rope you into taking care everything.

From my guesstimate it's roughly 5-6 Dads?
Jeez, guys, should we consider another date?
I mean I'm still all in, can bring some of the wife's fantastic four-alarm chili, but this is beginning to sound like more of a Dad-Coffee-Clatch than a Dadstock. With SO many Dads bailing I'm wondering if the SAHD Gods might be trying to send a message.
Sorry Jeff, not trying to undermine your generous offer of having all of us over to get drunk with you, but if you're willing to host this event I would certainly hope that it would be just that — an EVENT.
Just a thought.........

I'd love to attend. Wifey already started with the longer hours. 12 hour+ days and weekends til the end of the month. So I'm pretty much stuck at home or limited to kids friendly events :(

Ya know, it's only 140 miles - around 2:45 travel time...:chin:

Hmmmm.....:-k

Wifey's jiggy with it.....:chin:

I do believe 'a place to crash' was mentioned, so it'd just be gas.....:-k

There will be 5shots: :pals: and chugchug: - right?.....:chin:

AND it's an indoor sport - NO CHIGGERS! #-o

I think I'm starting to think that I just might be thinking about attending....

Guys, I'm heading out on vacation to St. Thomas. I might not be on until after the 12th. Don't worry, NOTHING is going to cancel this event. If anyone decides they want to come, GREAT. Just wait until I get back and I'll send them out.

I have three beds, after that if you are planning on spending the night, please bring stuff for you to sleep on.

CTDon
01-05-2008, 11:51 AM
I'll brig my aerobed...so those guys traveling further can have the beds. Or I could pull a Mopar and just sack out on Jeff's couch.

Does everyone know what they're bringing, food-wise?
I can do some killer pulled pork, or if someone's already doing that, some of my wife's wicked awesome chili.....

Pulled pork sounds good to me. I'll bring steaks instead of ham then.

We've got a good representation of meat. Shall I bring some as well, or something else?

One of my favorite 'other' things to make is twice-baked potatos with spinach and smoked gouda cheese.

Or I can bring some marinated chicken or other animal too slow for the slaughterhouse workers!

jeffb
01-13-2008, 01:18 PM
So we have a week until the event. Please PM me for my address/phone numbers. I hope the weather is going to cooperate. The extend forecast looks like rain/snow on Friday, but Saturday should be clear. Hopefully we don't get any snow or ice on Saturday....

CTDon
01-13-2008, 02:29 PM
I still have your address in a PM from this summer. Wife has to work saturday, but I secured a sitter to get here in the early afternoon. I should be there 3-3:30.

Should I bring those twice baked potatos or man up and bring a real dish?

Looks like the weather will cooperate with us. I'm looking forward to it. So I think Stretch is planning on being the first to attend around 12:30? The majority will be coming at 3-30.

So, if you are not on the list and you live within driving distance, why aren't you coming? If you find out you can come at the last minute, just send me an email or pm.

Thanks to jeffb for opening his house to a night of drunkenness. I haven't done that in a long time. Very cool time.
We are relying on Don for pix, but with his camera bouncing off the floor a couple of times, not sure what we'll get.
And finally, I now understand the call of the Wiii.

Thanks for a good time fellas. Now I volunteer jeffb's house again for NEDadstock, Summer edition. To be continued

A great evening out. Talk turned from tattoos to 9/11 to hot teachers to Superwhy to clingy kids to you name it. Even Tom Brokaw's Manmeat made it's way into a discussion.
