Anyone have an advice for this?...I've heard conflicting things.

Hmmm, we never boiled the water for our formula. If we traveled we would buy bottled water. But as for at home, the tap water was fine. Its not well water. But i thnik that if you do boil, then it is ok to stop after 6 months of age. (At least that is what I read at a few parenting type sites)

We never boiled either. We have a Britta filter on the tap, and just used that. Don't think our pediatrician ever cared.
Likewise, we got Jackson used to eating his formula at any temperature: room temp, warm, fridge cold. This made it a *lot* easier. Babies don't need it one way, and just get used to it however you serve it.
We never boiled water and used Hinkley Springs water for bottles. Like Jackson, Rachel took formula at whatever temperature was available. Room temperature worked just fine for her.
We never boiled the water either and served formula at a variety of temps. My wife was using HOT tap water for the first 4 months until I caught her doing it and sent her over to the CDC web site for some educashunum.
We stopped using the bottle sanitizer shortly after our son graduated to the larger bottles (probably about 5 months).
If your kid is happy, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Unless you have reason to question the safety of your water.

I've just gottten into the habit of putting the kettle on when I'm mixing formula. We have two Nalgene flasks that my wife used at the gym. (I didn't know they were fetish items until I saw an article in the NY Times magazine)
I'm forever mixing to keep ahead of the twins. The flasks, as well as their bottles, go in the dishwasher which I turn on at bedtime. So I'm nearly at 8 months and don't see any pressing reason to stop now.

I boiled from the time they started formula at 4 mos. until they came off of formula at 1yr. I always mixed up two days worth and put it into bottles that wau you could grab two from the fridge and heat them up quickly.
