My 8 year old had his first ice hockey lesson this past Saturday. Needless to say he was quite stoked as was Dad. Great deal as well. 15 one hour group lessons for $99. They also loan you any equipment you might not have so parents do not have to go out and buy stuff in case their kid decides they do not like ice hockey. He was tired afterward but claimed it was "the best day of his life".

Very cute, although I was mildly disappointed on the choice of jersey. Couldn't you afford something that wasn't on clearance? Maybe after all those yard upgrades your a bit skint. BTW Mark.. Rangers come in February too. Let me know if I need to secure a ticket for you.

K Hockeyfan. What is cool about the jersey is that is was given to my son by his favorite cousin (and clone, my brother and I married twin sisters) along with the skates he is wearing. The pro shop at the rink had a nice Maple Leafs jersey. I do not know if I told you before but the recent Canadian Juniors jersey was quite nice as well. I might see if I can pick one up when I am in Montreal.

Come to Raleigh and see the RAngers game in Feb. I don't think I would spend the $$ on a Carolina jersey with the way they are playing right now. Sad. Does his cousin look very much alike? That's funny. Twins eh....I won't ask.

Really? That's all? Damn must be nice eh. My daughter is still a little to young for hockey. Everyday she tells us how much she wants to play. I have looked into it here and holy hell, we are looking at easily spending $2,000.00 to $3,000.00 dollars a year when she finally gets around to it. Then when my son gets to it, I shudder to think of the cost. My only saving grace is that when I get done with Police School one of the perks is that we will get a hefty discount with the local timbits hockey team, either in Toronto or Edmonton(depending where we end up next year).
But prices like you have there in VA, makes me want to move back to VA just for the discount..(not really:| , but still.)

I am taking that in Ontario. I have to pay for it in Ontario,(but I get it back) but if I were to go to Edmonton, they would send me.

Willda,
Bear in mind it is only a drills clinic to help get the kids started. If we go the hockey route and join a team the cost will be what you are talking about. I am planning on a HUGE signing bonus for my son to help cover costs. Good luck in school. Try to hook up in Toronto. I am planning on going there for a game and I might need some help getting out of the pokie!

I'm kind of glad my oldest decided he did not like hockey, it is cheap the first year 2, besides skates and equipment but after that it's 100's of dollars, plus travel and gear (actually more like 1000's i suppose.)
