I just finished reading Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover. If you are familiar with Dave's radio show or his other books, don't bother with this one. It is the same message with a different catch phrase. If you don't know much about Dave and need ideas on getting out of debt it is worth getting from the public library. I still would not buy it.

Thankfully we are well on our way to becoming debt free. But I believe our choice of having only one income helped to force us into this decision.
Just watched something on PBS's Frontline a couple nights ago on credit card debt and the tricks that credit card companies are starting to use on their customers. Very interesting and disturbing show on the history of the credit card business. Did you know they can raise your interest rate (even on old debt) without any reason whatsover?
Watching this show is enough to make a person go cold turkey on the plastic.
We use our Discover card near exclusively, but we were both uncharactaristically intelligent about spending in college, and niether of us entered our relationship with any cc debt. Discover gets paid off every month. Kind of just easier then writing checks all the time, and there is that month lag there if we need it.
Now, my rather large student loan is something else alltogether! Yes, two bachelors degrees and 5.5yrs in college.... mmm...
