The county sheriff's department around here usually has a booth or trailer at the county fair that will fingerprint your child, take their picture, and give you a laminated ID tag. It's a great opportunity to get your kid's fingerprints documented with a picture and it's free.

I don't think they actually file it, save it or anything. It's more of a publicity stunt to introduce law-enforcement - but anytime you can document some bio-metrics for free - Do It!

My lodge back in SoCal does this at local events also. I have been trying to get it started up at my new lodge here in Utah but no luck so far.

Every agency that offers fingerprinting, id's, etc. for kids MUST keep them on file. No matter what state. It is a program that John Walsh started the same time he pushed the "Code ADAM" program.
