My FIL just bought himself a Mac Pro notebook. Boy is that thing awesome!!
Anyway,
My wife went with him and she bought us the new OS. Now I have the fun in making sure everything is backed up so we don't potentially loose anything.
Just thought I'd share....

You should be fine. I just installed leopard on my Mac Mini (512 MB ram 1.5 Ghz Intel Solo) and it works fine. I am going to buy more RAM since leopard really need 1 gig or more.

Thanks, I installed it last night and so far love it. I haven't played with "Time Machine" yet, but its very cool. I've been trying to find out why Firefox windows won't come up after the computer wakes up from going to sleep. I have to log off and then back on....I really don't want to use Safari.
Also, where is the default place for iPhoto pictures? I only have 12 Gig free and I want to spring clean the computer and then set it up to back things up....

I got a mac a few months ago and i love it. When I was in law school 10 years ago they only had macs so I bought one then...I hated it and vowed never to get another mac again. Since then though, I went through probably 4 PC's. They all died within 3 years of buying them. Either their HD would crash or Id get viruses. Every time this happened, I lost all of my pictures, docs, etc. After 10 years, I broke my vow and bought an imac. I am thrilled with it! Don't really have to worry about viruses and it runs super fast. It took me a while to learn mac commands and programs, but once I got it, it was smooth sailing. I got an inexpensive external hard drive on ebay so I could back up all my stuff. Its really not a hassle at all because it runs and saves stuff as I do other stuff. The only downside to a mac, imo is that it is difficult to find software for it. Its a PC world. But besides that, I love it.

One of these days I want to jump into the Mac world, but I do know that you can load Windows into Macs operating systems so you can have the best of both worlds. Mac is just not in the budget right now...glad you guys are having fun with your new systems.

Apple released updated version of the new iMac today. Nice machine too bad I already have the older model.

Well, at least I could claim I had the top-of-the-line iMac for six months. That's technology, always moving on.

Have you tried Camino (http://caminobrowser.org/) for a browser? Same group that handles Firefox but its a Mac only browser.
iPhotos should be in your Home folder and then in Pictures then in iPhoto Library... can't confirm this on 10.5 until my wife comes home with the MacBookPro.

Thanks for the tip. I'm on it now. I'll report back, if it works better....
I really don't want to use Safari.
May I ask why not? I've been using a Powerbook for about three years now, didn't know much about Mac browsers til I got it, and Safari was the default so I just rolled with it. It rarely freezes or does anything weird and renders pages more true to the designer's intentions than most others, especially IE.
Just saying, is all.

Really? When we first got our Mac 2 years ago, there were pages that wouldn't load in Safari. So we switched to Firefox. Now we upgraded to Leopard and Firefox acts funny after the computer wakes up from sleep mode.... I've had no problems with Camino.
