We Wings fans have it all--the hottest babe to sing the national anthem, the best home arena to play the game, the best fans, the coolest traditions...and, of course, the World's Greatest Hockey Team.
My prediction...the Wings win the Stanley Cup series, 4-2.

No bets here. I'm proud of my Pens but am embarrassed that some of them are so young that they can't quite grow full playoff beards.

Pens drop 0-1 on a 4-0 shutout. Let's hope game 2 goes better.

They did drill some posts and boy did Crosby ever bowl over that guy towards the end boards after taking his shot. It was great. Hope the Pens show up next game. After the first 2 Fleury wasn't exactly on his game. The last 2 were just nothing goals.

That was my impression as well. It's like Fleury gave up. Of course, I've seen this sort of thing happen lately with other teams. Usually it was the Pens dumping on the other team but I guess what comes around goes around.
I also hope the Pens show up for game 2. I can't stand all this talk of anointment for the Wings or the Pens. I'd love to see this series go for 6 or 7 games, otherwise the talking heads will have nothing to talk about IMO.

Another shut out tonight!!!! :chugchug:
Seriously....while I'm glad the Wings are ahead, I actually found myself rooting for the Pens this evening. I tend to instinctively side with the underdog, and I'd like to see the Pens at least give the Wings a bloody nose.
In short, I want Detroit to win.....but I want the Pens to make them work like hell to get it. That makes for a more interesting Stanley Cup series. Last year's Stanley Cup series was pretty shitty, too. Ottawa was almost totally dominated by Anaslime. It's better when the teams are more evenly matched, like in 2006 when Carolina beat Edmonton.
It's not over yet, though! Well see what happens back in Pittsburgh.

That third goal was phenomenal.
I hope to see a better series though. Pittsburgh hasn't shown up yet. Not getting enough pucks to the net and not getting any breaks.

Yeah, it is a bit embarrassing to have to resort to knocking over the goalie. Frankly, I'm embarrassed by the Pens' performance thus far.

Checking in a bit late here. I would love 2 more shutouts by the Wings! I saw Cindy's post game last night where he was saying "We are getting more scoring chances but not executing, they are not really outplaying us." Shut the fuck up dick boy! That was not the line he was giving when they scored 5 goals on the Rangers with just 15 shots on goal a few weeks ago.

Last night's game was a perfect example of why the Wings are the best team in the NHL. In their game 4 victory over the Pens, the winning goal was scored by fourth liner little Jiri Hudler (He's such a cute little guy!! I'd like to put him on my dashboard as a Red Wings decorative ornament...kind of like the "Tiny Elvis" character from Saturday Night Live a few years back).
The 5 on 3 penalty, which could have tied the game, was killed by a subtle yet great play by Hank Zetterberg, who is quickly becoming my favorite NHL player.
Fourth line players scoring winning goals, first line players doing little things right....that's the sign of great team!
