I have been trying to get my daughter to drink more water lately, she will drink juice all day, but just barely sips the water. I can dilute the juice by filling the cup almost completely full with water and just barely putting any juice in there, and she will drink that, but if it is just plain water, it is such a chore to get her to drink it.
I guess this way will have to work, as she is getting mostly water, but if anyone has any ideas on how to get her to drink more water let me know. She still thinks this is juice and not water, I am trying to figure out a way to have her drink the water knowing that it is water, and not tricking her into thinking it is juice.

Have you tried one of those squeeze water bottles? Tara just loves drinking out of them... *Knocking on wood*

I havent tried that yet, but anything is worth a shot. She will still probably complain about the water. I put ice cubes in it today, and she was into it for a bit, now the cup is sitting on the table and she hasnt used it since she got up from her nap. Guess I have to keep putting ice in there.

I bet she would really dig it especially if she sees some of the older girls at gymnastics drinking from them too....

My daughter loves juice and didn't care for water. She would cry cause she wanted juice or milk.

My wife happened to pick up those squeeze bottles. If you tip them upside down nothing leaks out and the only way to get something out is to actually suck.

My daughter loves that and will drink ANYTHING because she loves the squeeze bottle.

But I wouldn't worry about adding an ounce of juice to water if that is the only way she is gonna get the water. It isn't gonna hurt.

I know it won't hurt, and she is getting the neccesary water she needs, but the fact is, she still thinks it is juice. I am trying to find a way for her to drink water knowingly. I think the squeeze bottle is a very good idea, and as soon as I get to the store, I am gonna get one. I have a good feeling that it will work.

Another thing, I was actually talking to my cousin earlier today about this topic and he said that his neice had the same issue with drinking water. What they did, and they came across this by accident, was when they were outside in the summer running around in the heat the little girl's older brother ran the hose and took a drink from it. Then she wanted to do the same thing. Then she would only drink from the hose...

They said it slowly transpired into filling up her cup from the hose. Finally she began drinking water from the faucet. :D

Maybe this will help with some back up thoughts.

That is not a bad idea, she loves drinking from the water fountain at the mall, or at gymnastics, Good thinking remington. I remember when I was a kid that I loved drinking from the hose, I will give that a shot today, as it is supposed to be 90 and humid as all get out today.

I tried it yesterday, and she would not get anywhere near the hose, she kept saying "I dont want to get wet daddy" I tried to tell her that she wouldnt get wet, but she wanted nothing to do with it. I am going to keep trying though, as I think it is a very good idea.
