View Full Version : Hotel blues
Hey guys. I'm sitting in the hotel waiting (im)patiently for my daughter to take a nap. Last night was brutal, though not as bad as it has been in stays past. She took about 1/2hr to go to sleep initially, and that was at 8 or so, so we weren't worried about bothering other guests, but instead of sleeping through the night she woke up screaming at 3am. into the bed with us she goes. We don't usually, ok, we never had a family bed, I toss to much and sleep to light. She tosses like me and sleeps like her mom, dead to the world usually. So repeated kicks to the kidneys, ribs, and lower and its morning. joy.
anyway, sorry for the rant, hopefully we'll make it to the zoo this afternoon

It always takes Cassandra about one full day to adjust to a new environment. She's a miserable little baby the first night and nearly as miserable the following day because she's tired.
We went to Tampa this spring for a quick vacation. Cassandra didnt sleep the first night. Well, maybe 2 hours. The next day, same thing. Since she always falls asleep in her car seat, we ended up doing an extended driving tour of the Tampa and Clearwater area. Its surprising how much of the town you can see in 3 hours! With a long nap and another big meal, she was fine the rest of the vacation. Slept normal hours, ate at regular times.
I understand what you're going thru. And I'm laughing, too, because I'm mean. :) Any chance that the zoo is 3 hours away? She could get a long nap in the car...
thankfully she did finally fall asleep. she'll stand up and hollar at me and for me, then give up and lie down.
The other times we've been down here for her class, I've driven out to the zoo and just parked while she slept. It takes like 20minutes to get there if I go through town (Which I do) and then she'll be asleep as I pull in. Its on one of the lakes, and there is a nice playground there too. she was too little before but I bet she'll dig it this time
cheers
oh, and the reason Val's so quick to volunteer for these classes is her work pays for milage and putting us up, meals for her (which with an app and desert pretty well takes care of us too) and my folks and brothers and family are just under two hours north of here...
I'm tempted to run up there tomorrow with Tara to see her cousins a day early!
Anyway, blah blah, I'm lucking out here, she's napping into her second hour. :-$ \:D/
oh, and I don't/can't do laundry, clean or anything else, man what a bummer
still, it is kinda boring, got my crosswords and laptop though

I feel for ya tt3, I would have a tough time in a hotel room with the kids, Maybe if the weather is nice you guys can all go out for a walk.
it was raining this morning so the zoo was out, but we went to the mall and walked around until she was SUPER tired and of course, with that goes cranky.
Went over to the zoo this afternoon, and everyone with kids was parked in a five block radius! Crazy!
We'll shoot again for tomorrow. Man she loved the pool last night too... screamed a holy fit when we took her out :)
An update, if I may. My own personal blog embedded within a public forum for SAHD's!
Anyway... got to the zoo this morning 1/2hr before it opened, got a parking spot, and went to the playground until it doors opened. Only, Tara didn't want to get out of the swing... she swung for an HOUR!
We rolled around the zoo for a bit, then left cuz she shut down. fell asleep on the way back to the hotel... crap, she slept for 1/2hr and then refused her nap this afternoon.
Man its rough when she misses naps. And then not being at home, she was just a crankenstien all afternoon and through dinner.
Sorry, I'm done whining... its been a rough day.
Tomorrow is check out, course I get to pack up and check out while Val is in class, but it should be easy

You are going to relatives today right, I think you said there is other kids she likes to play with, so Today will probably be alot easier for you. I hope the rest of your mini vacation  goes better!!
Yeah, her little cousin is 5 months older then she is. It'll be good, too cuz we can just let her cry to sleep
she woke up at 10:30 last night
