My wife unfortunately got called into work today, and we were going to go shopping, but now we can't. I just changed my son about 20 minutes ago, went in threw the diaper away, made lunch for ny daughter, when I came back in, I smelled him all the way into the other room. I was like "oh no", I just changed you kid. I went upstairs to his room, and we only had 3 diapers left. I had to use one, and now only down to 2 diapers. My wife wont be home till aroung 7 pm tonight, so I have to make do with what I have. I think I can make it until 5 or so, unless he has a misfortunate accident. Think maybe I could use a towel or something for the last couple of hours, or just let him lay naked on a blanket, and watch him. :o
Could someone please E-mail me a diaper! :supz:
Do you use a diaper bag? I've usually got two or three in there, and an extra in the little take along thinger too... no help to you now though, is it?
There was about a month that I felt comfortable not taking a diaper bag along when Tara and I go out... then we found out she's allergic to peanuts, so we need to carry an epi pen everwhere. They live in the diaper bag now.
Dang, I think I'm lacking socialization... sorry
Cool smiley btw1!

Ahh, my wife is on her way home, she didnt have to stay all day thankfully, all that fuss, and I still have a diaper left. I got away easy this time. I think I will put a few diapers in the safe for emergency use, and if the house burns down, I will still have a couple of diapers. \:D/

If that ever happens again give your neighbors a call. We are blessed with very friendly neighbors.

Been there! Always a panic isn't it? I ran out of wipes yesterday after a rather nasty change. A towel and two safety pins would work in a pinch. Guess your going to buy diapers upon her return? I've started buying jumbo packs when I am out. It's a pain having a cart full of diaper packs but worth it when you only have to buy them once a month. Not sure if you guys are like me, but I never feel totally comfortable buying diapers or when my wife asked tampons. Even more uncomfortable changing diapers in public spots like crowded men's washrooms.

My wife told me to ask the neighbors too, I would rather not bug them though, I hate asking other people for stuff.

Whatever you do, dont use paper towels as a diaper substitute. Nothing good comes of that. Bounty may be the quicker-picker-upper but they fall WAYYYY short when it comes to poo.

We've been down to our last few several times. With 2 kids in diapers, just the other day I had to resort to putting a size 6 diaper on my 8 month old. It worked!

If I get nervous, I just pull the couch out and look behind it. The kids sometimes drop a few diapers behind there.
Such naughty little kids..... :D

Yeah, yesterday was a little nerve racking, it was close, but I didnt run out. Don't use paper towels huh. I can just imagine a big load shooting right out of a bounty. lol. We have a few towels around, and I could have just laid him on the floor for a while and let him free ball it, :P

No way, I would never imagine in my wildest dreams that one day I would be discussing with other men about diapers and baby explosions through bounty paper towels!!

I am unphased by the purchase of diapers or feminine hygiene items. I buy both in bulk at Sam's. Imagine the looks when you buy 8 cases of pampers, a case of Kotex, and a case of Merlot.

Last week, I made a special trip just to buy my wife some make-up and certain "feminine products"...I've given up on trying to act "manly" in public. I think most people will realize that the merchandise isn't for me

As an emergency in the past I grabbed my wife's pads and used them along with a pair of underwear. The other alternatives is to use an old towel, cut it up and use it as a cloth diaper.
Not great for #2, but okay solution for a #1.

Care to rephrase that, or are you admitting to an incontinence problem?

Of course we cloth diaper - stopped using disposables about 2 weeks after the little one was born, after reading an article about how the chemical reaction in disposables can raise the temparature in the diapers to the point of exposing little boys to scrotal temperatures that were dangerous. Of course we have many other reasons to cloth diaper but this article was one of the main reasons why we became interested in cloth dipes.

Interesting study from a reputable source. Thanks for sharing. In our case the warning comes about a month too late esobalvarro our second monkey is already potty trained, YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH (Must uttered with a Howard Dean facial expression)
Seriously now, the study sure merits any parent's concern and prevention is the best medicine. On the other hand, so many other things have been blamed for the reduction in the human sperm count and for testicular cancer. I have read that the human average sperm count has been consistently dropping during the last 50 years and plastic lined diapers were introduce about three decades ago.
Like the article concludes the results set a solid groundwork for further studies.
By the way I think that what you guys are doing is wonderful!

One of the other things that pushed us in the direction of cloth was the fact that, if you're using disposables correclty (read the side panel on any diaper package) you're supposed to dump all solids in the tiolet before disposal in the trash. It's the law, since fecal matter (poop) doesn't belong in our landfills and is actually considered a biohazard. I don't know about you but I'm not too excited about having the water table contaminated with someone's babies' poop. But I digress. I figured that disposables are not that much more convenient than cloth diapers if their proper use required you to do this.
Clearly I'm interested in the subject, so here are a few links for further reading. Most of the opposing studies are funded by diaper companies so hey take your choice on who to believe. Of course there are those who will call me a useless tree-hugger - oh well. Bottom-line? A child uses some ungodly number of disposables during thier diapering career - something like 10,000 diapers. (12-14day*365days)*2years - our initial investment of about $500.00 in top of line diapering stuff for our son will pay off - and will work for his sibs as they show up :)

You sure make a great case esobalvarro. I admit never having read the side panel of a diaper package, I don't think many of us consumers do when it comes to diapers.
Perhaps if my wife and I had taken the time to take a closer look, we would have opted for the cloth option.
As far as those who slap you with the "tree-hugger" label, sounds like you have the right attitude.
A quick question about the biohazard comment: Is the fecal matter less biohazardous if one eats organic? just kidding...
on a side note, could you shorten your links using the bbcode?
just do this

sans spaces and it'll show up like this

the links make the window so big i have to scroll all around on the little laptop. I know, I know, I"m lazy.
