Spent about an hour and a half today shopping for a new pair of sneakers for the chitlin at KMart. Picked out a great pair of size 8 "my little poney" sneakers, some Disney bobby socks, (and a few other things on the Honey-Do List).

We're heading for the check-out & "Bam!" the lights went out. Now, I just hate shopping in the first place. Now I'm standing there in the dark trying to explain to a 3 year old why she's not getting new shoes today. Cause every senior citizen in the place is chomping on their nitro pills while racing up to the non-functional registers thinking they got to get out of this place.

She took it very well when I explained we can get the same exact crap up the road at Wal-mart (who probably sprang for a back-up generator). Turns out, they did. Abandoning our shopping cart and after a pat-down to get out of the store, we headed to Wally-Mart.

Now, personally, I hate Wal-Mart and go out of the way to avoid shopping there, but this was a 'special' occasion. Did I mention there's a McDonald's in there - I'm Loving It! Happy meal! They didn't have the "pony" shoes and it was looking pretty grim for a few tense moments. But, there they were! They had Thomas the Train sneakers! And they do the light-up thing, too! Oh, the day was saved! A little boyish but not too much so.

Turning a 1 hour shopping expedition into a 4 hour ordeal...priceless! I told her 3 times today, she was really good. She was awesome. I wish the power company could be just as good.....

A stand up story Jeff! I can see kids years older pitching huge fits in a situation like that. Dad power all the way!
