Surprised this hasn't come up at all. So what are your plans for the big game?

My FIL is having a party as he has 2 big screen TVs and a kick ass new firepit on his patio. Unfortunately our kids are going to be the only ones there, but there are going be lots of people that like playing with them. So that will help out a lot.

Will be good to go & talk to people I don't usually get a chance to hang out with. Not to mention filling out grids & hanging by the fire if the game is a blowout and it's good weather for it.

I don't have anything planned as I am still sulking over the Eagles blowing there chance to be there. Normally, I would go over to a buddies house where there is a big screen in the rec room, another TV in the bar, and then we set up a giant screen with a projector in the backyard. Usually everyone will bring something and the grill be going. I haven't even heard if there will be one this weekend or not. If not, I will probably do some other stuff I've been neglecting up until game time and then watch the game (while still sulking.)

I'm with you man, no Colts or Eagles so I have no real interest. I used to like the Steelers but now I can't stand them(long story, stupid SIL's fault).
I haven't decided if I'll watch it or not, if I do it will just be at home.

The commercials will be good. I plan on watching it here with my wife. Nothing else. May make something yummy on the grill. Wings or perhaps make a dip. Mmm.

Rootin for the Jesus freak Warner, plus he's my age.

Though Mike Tomlin graduated the same year I did from a rival school down the road, gotta go with the Cardinals.

:bored:

J/K -- I'm always into it by the time the game rolls around. Wife asked me tonight what I'd like to do for the SB. Might have some friends over, but I have an ear infection (saw the dr. today), so it depends on how I feel by then.

This is one of those games where I really don't have a favorite. I'd be happy either way, so long as it's a good game.

We're hosting. About 20 adults and 7 kids (mainly family w/ a few neighbors mixed in). Smoked babybacks, honey bbq wings, some loose-meat sandwich recipe from the midwest, and a lot of appetizers. Oh yeah, 2 kegs of homebrew (blond and an IPA) and a keg of Breckenridge Pandora's Bock.
I'll be glad when everythings ready. Don't even know who I'm cheering for yet.:pint:

+1!!!

The wife and I are just going to kick back and watch the game ourselves. Sunday night is tough to get into more than that with school for the kids in the morning. Rooting for Pittsburgh buy really do not care. I just wish I had some numbers to root for to keep me interested. Back in NY you could walk into any deli or bar and get in on the action and there were always pools at work. Not such a big deal down south. Enjoy fellas.

Heading to one of my wife's fellow partners' house. They apparently bought two adjacent properties, had both houses torn down and built a dream home on the resulting land. It was a 2+ year project, all done while he was still working in NYC, so we're curious how the house turned out.

That, and they have a bunch of kids that my boys will have fun playing with as well.

I'm interested in the "loose meat" recipe.

I'm staying here pissed off because my TV decided to blow a bulb 2 days before the Superbowl. I'll miss my man cave but will still watch the game upstairs.

This is the first time I've tried it. My wife is from Omaha and KC for me. We got the recipe out of a cookbook from the Omaha Junior league. It's supposed to be like BG's or Maid Rite sandwiches.

Place 5# finely ground beef in a large saucepan. Add 1/2 cup ketchup, 3 heaping teaspoons creamy horseradish, 3 teaspoons worcestershire, 5 heaping teaspoons salt, 1 teaspoon MSG (every recipe from Omaha uses MSG), a dash of fresh ground black pepper, 1 cup ground or chopped onion and 1 cup water. Cook on low for 15 minutes stirring constantly. Let simmer for 1.5 hours. Add water if it becomes dry.

oooh, Maid Rites are the shizzle. We get them when we visit my wife's g-ma and extended family in Marshalltown, IA. Good stuff.

Sounds like a good party Holmes. I respect people who throw the big Super Bowl party. I just dont care enuf about it to make an effort. We always wait for an invite.

With that being said we are going to a friend's house. Just us and them. They live about 30m away so Im sure we'll be out of there by half-time at the latest. Just an excuse to get together with some friends and let the kids run around.

We have to spend it at home so we're just gonna let the kids run wild while mom and dad put on our black and gold and wave our terrible towels like a couple of fools!

On the food side, the wife is gonna be making up the usual party fare (wings, nachos, etc.) though almost completely from scratch. The salsa is gonna be the only thing coming pre-made.
