Was watching a cooking show yesterday and they were using tequila in a steak marinade. Does anyone use tequila in food? Or any alcohol in their food? I just use cheap red wine, in my soups, and sauces.

I use beer on occasion and sometimes wine. Never tried that south of the border stuff. Have a few recipes I want to try kicking around that call for bourbon and such. Mmm... May be tasty.
Beer in the crockpot/slowcooker. White wine and marsala in a lot of dishes, tilapia, chicken...
Stout in cakes, lighter beer in breads.
We've used booze on occasion but I can't think off hand in what, more savory dishes.

I havent lately. Ive been meaning too though, I have a couple recipes cut out and/or bookmarked that call for tequila as a marinade type thing.
Years ago I was out in Colorado visiting my sister. Her roommate and I wanted to make chicken shish-ke-bobs. We just threw together some spices in a bowl with tequila and marinated overnight (I think). Man it was incredible. Wish I knew what we did!
Here (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/tequila-lime-chicken-recipe/index.html) is one I have saved. Gonna try it soon.

Dig around this site. I've never made anything that has turned out bad. Check the top 20 link. It's amazing. The pot pie, apple pie, carrot cake, lasagna, soup, zucchini bread and others have all been fantastic. Lots of good recipes on there. You'll likely find everything you will need on there to get yourself drunk on tequila goodness.

Nope, but it sounds like it could be good. Like others I will use beer with foods and white wine for some sauces.

I don't have time anymore for real cooking. I put together quick and easy stuff that tastes like crap, that stinks. I like cooking.
About the only time I really get into cooking anymore is on my grill in the summer, and the only alcohol I use then(besides the bottle in hand) is beer on brats or chicken on a beer can.

I just bought some dry white wine for something I am making in the next day or two. Today I am making a mushroom risotto with some pork chops. Mmmm.

I cook with moonshine, if that counts! Unfortunately my supply is running low,so am savoring the use of it. My source hasn't come back from Portugal for awhile so I need to find another supplier - any takers? :icon_lol:

This recipe for chicken is amazing. Sweet, tangy, moist... it's delicious.

My dad has also used a similar marinade with pork ribs that are extremely tasty.

I don't touch alcohol anymore, but Tequila could only be a good marinade for people who like Tequila. I drank it some in college and found it very hard to drink. Perhaps the worst tasting of all the alcohol liquors to my tastebuds. Gave me a puke reflex nearly every sip.
I knew some women who claimed to love Tequila but I think they just liked Margarita mixer. Maybe throw some of that in, too. LOL

Ctrain, its the difference between good tequila and cheap tequila. That stuff you drank in college was probably cheap tequila. Cuervo?

There is a world of difference.

I even emailed him and got no response. I think KG was right. He died of a heart attack from eating all of those cheesesteaks. REally I don't know. He used to always reply to the odd email. I think things went badly for him with the choices he made.

My current concept-of-operations for after The Alien lands is to implement my Mum's way: Cook on Sundays--two or three main dishes for the rest of the week. (Chili, pot roast, spaghetti sauce etc).
The idea when I was in late elementary school/junior high was do the heavy, involved cooking on Sunday--and I could just grab whatever out of the frig and re-heat during the week.
