I know this topic sounds like something that society would think only women would talk about, but I guess alot of the stuff we talk about is perceived that way too by society.

We all live in different parts of the country, and everyone has there own recipes for the area they live in, but I dont know about you guys, but I am the primary cook in the house, I love to cook.

For example, when I moved to Philly from Iowa, I made loose meat sandwiches for my wife, When I told her what I was going to cook, she said "what is that" I couldnt believe she had never heard of them. All they are is ground beef chopped up, and put on a bun with any condiments that you might enjoy. Well she loves them, and we have them alot, but alot of people around here have never heard of them. Such a simple idea, but everyone around here loves their cheesesteaks, so noone had time for loose meat. LOL

I am just looking for more recipes that are like that that are simple and from different regions. May be a Dumb topic, but I just am curious.

Not sure what is special in our area besides being from Buffalo and home of the chicken wing 8)

I do most all the cooking as well. I love BBQ foods, ribs, chicken and make a rub many times.

Here is a simple recipe that I like and many kids will eat as well,

1 lb ground beef browned, use one one if you like.
1 can cream of mushroom soup.
1 box mac and cheese.

Make mac and cheese, mix soup and beef, bake in a casserole dish, 325 for maybe 20 minutes, then serve.

The cream of mushroom soup wouldnt go over well in my household. I love it, but my wife wouldnt touch it, on Monday nights I might try that, as my wife works late and it is just me and the kids for dinner.

Cream of mushroom can be replaced with cream of chicken, both soups are a staple of many recipes. It's basically just used as a base.

Before I grew up (as my folks like to joke) I was a chef for close to a decade. Poor wages and no benefits forced me back to school to learn a new trade. But I still love cookin, I think that is what ultimately led me to start brewing beer.

Anywho,..I know a recipe or 2 and am available to help plan that special meal if the need arises.

another good one is my special baked beans. I love making these, they are so good.

Two cans of pork and beans, put it in a glass casserole dish, add some brown sugar and ketchup to taste. put four strips of bacon over the top, and bake in the oven on 400 degrees. Oh they are so good. I never measure anyhting, so I just add ingredients to taste.

You cant get much simpler than this one: a barbeque in a crock pot.

1 pork shoulder (butt will do) about 4 pounds. (Sounds like a lot but it isnt. The fat and the bone, both of which will be discarded, count for considerable weight.)
8-10 oz of tabasco (or the liquid seasoning of your choice)

Score the fat into 1" squares
Put the shoulder in the crock pot, fat side UP. leave the bone in.
Pour the tabasco onto the pork.
Set crock pot on lowest temperature setting.
Cook for 8-12 hours.
Using tongs or some other lifting device, remove the pork and set it aside.
Remove as much of the fat as possible from the pork.
Strain the tabasco/pork au jus and put in a separate container.
Using 2 forks, shred the pork shoulder. place in a seperate container.
Add about 1/2 cup of the au jus to the shredded pork.
Devour!

here's a good one for kids and you need a Foreman grill. Simple,
get a tortilla, fill with cheese, put in the foreman, browne the tortilla just a few minutes, instant grilled cheese without the bread. Add chicken if you like, we do that alot.

We do a similar recipe. Brown the tortilla, add tomato sauce, add cheese, add other toppings, back into the oven for until cheese is melted. Quick, simple and light pizzas.
