I whipped some up yesterday and it is the best butter I have ever tasted. Its super easy too. Just put some heavy cream in your food processor and whip. Go past the whip cream phase and add some salt and your done. All kinds of possibilities here. Compound butter is great.

This is great. I've wanted to get some local cream from a dairy and do this for awhile.

How long does it last? Is it the same as store bought? I have some heavy creme in the fridge for a nice gourmet recipe that I was going to make. Wife didn't seem too keen on eating it though so I may need an alternate use. Actually I don't think we have a food processor right now. Only a blender. Maybe I will go and buy one later today so I can try this. Mmmmm butter.

There is really no difference between them. Use your blender. It just might be a little hard to get the stuff out of there.

Maybe a half pound. Just remember to put it in an air tight container.

Cool. My wife has wanted one for a while though. So I may just get a cheapy one for 50 or 75 bucks. Not going to bother with a Kitchen Aid unit or other pricey model for the amount of times I will use it.

I have 2. A Black n Decker Quick n Easy (the bigger one) and the Cuisnart Mini Prep (a smaller one).

Get the Black n Decker and you are good to go.

I have the mini prep that cubby is talking about. It is big enough for what I do.

I looked online at target and didn't see it. All the B&D is rated like 1 or 2 stars. The KA one at 99 bucks is 4.5 or higher. Is it that much better?

no. My B&D works just fine. Everyone is a small kitchen appliance expert these days huh?!??! :icon_lol:

Please do not spend $100 on a food processor!

well here is the cuisinart mini prep (http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DLC-1SS-Mini-Prep-Processor-Stainless/dp/B00007IT2M). Looks a little different than mine, mine must be an older model.

And here is the Black n Decker (http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-Quick-Plus%C2%AE-Processor/dp/B00158SHNI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1236705107&sr=1-1). Again, looks a little different than mine. I dont know why it got such bad reviews. Never had a problem with mine. Keep in mind that most people only write reviews if things went sour.

On a side note - The wife and I are going to Kohls today to buy a FP. Not sure if we are going the Kitchen Aid line or the CUisine Art. Leaning towards the KA one. So the wife informs me. Anyways I'll let you know when I get it. Butter making here we come.

LOL. Wife and I ended up going with this one from Kohls last weekend. It was 199.00 minus 20% from a coupon we got in the mail. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks pretty sweet. I tried to convince her to go with B&D, but she wasn't having it. Good luck with the butter.
