Any general recommendations

So this summer (after I pay off the certified assload of fines I built up for overdue books) I'm gonna do a lot more reading. Big interests for me are scifi and political stuff.

Scifi will probably be covered when I dig in some more on Kevin J Anderson's Saga of Seven Suns. However, I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good political reading.

Joseph Ellis has a good bio of Washington (among other books), and Bernstein has a good one of Jefferson. Each is historically interesting and does not try to be all-encompassing (meaning: not 1000 pages).

In the words of Buford T Justice of "The Bandit" fame, "That ain't baby shit compared to what this guy has done!".

I recently came across an article in Smithsonian about the Author Robert Caro who continues to write his story about President Lyndon Johnson. He thought it would take 2 volumes. His latest volume, number 4, covers Johnson's first 7 weeks LBJ's presidency and is at 600 pages!! So far the story is up to 3200 pages and it ain't close to being over.

Ben, volume 1 might be a good place to start.

Ben,

My brother, along with many others, loved the biography of Ben Franklin that came out a year or two ago.

recently got a nook and have been reading more than I have in a long time. Have recently finished Tom Clancy's "Against All Enemies" and The Tail of the Tiger. Also read Andrew Britton's "The American" and am starting his "The Assassin."

Tail of the tiger. Is that the one with the terrorist in the mall and the main guy kills him but before he dies he puts a pigskin football in his arms?

Yeah, and has a few good lines before the terriorist dies.

Many years ago I read the whole Tom Clancy Jack Ryan series. The Tail of the Tiger brings his son into the picture.
