Default Summer plans?

I'm hoping that we'll be able to do more stuff once the kids are not in school. Any thoughts on a weekly, or bi-weekly outing?

Always up for getting outside in the summer...

The beach is always nice. Not sure if you have any near you, like the ocean or inland lake. Cute ladies are always a bonus. Waterparks or other outdoor recreation. Many conservation areas, State Parks or the like have unique programs offering education opportunities for the little ones to learn about nature. Fun fun fun.

I thought I might just drive up to Raleigh one day and let Hockeyfan entertain my 3 while I go drink beer with my brother. ;)

definitely.

We can try some hiking...easy hikes with the little ones, but outdoors & hopefully shaded.

I'm going to try to do a lot more hiking in the spring & summer to get ian all primed for camping.

we can of course hit all the fenced in playgrounds and let 'em run amok.

Zag, can I come with you? HF, you can handle 2 more, right?

Bring it on! It can't be that bad. There are great parks here. Less hillbillies as you say out this way. Air has to be cleaner...wait, maybe not. Don't I get to drink a few beer? Just name the time and place. Hockeyfan and the two goons will show up for fun.

O My daughter(almost 3 years old) I think would live outside all the time if she could, we're lucky to have the beach only 9 miles away to the west and the mountains only 5 or so miles away to the east of here in San Diego. Also plenty to do in-between....there has to be at least over a hundred play parks just in southern San Diego County and I think half of them are here in our little section of Chula Vista. Anyway everyday is doing something outside !!!! Can't wait till she's alittle older and can do some hiking on the mountain trails nearby, and to go fishing in the bay. Of course thats hoping the Navy doesnt ship us out before that??? still don't know yet.drink:

Darthdaddy,
If we by the "fickle finger of fate" get stationed at Great Lakes , Ill. by June then Dad Fest is doable and like in prior post we don't know yet, but Great Lakes could be a possibility. I see that Great Lakes doesn't seem to far from your Lakemoor. Oh and again nothing against Illinois , its just we're so use to living in a WARM climate and hoping to stay here in San Diego or somewhere in the South region.

jeffb,

The kids(7&5) were off from school this week and we all(wife included) took a couple of day trips. One day spent the day at the Am Museum of Nat Hist. They absolutely loved it especially since they saw the movie.
Another day we trekked up to Mystic. Did the aquarium finished early so we hit the seaport. They loved both but should have done it in reverse as all the cool stuff at the seaport was in the morning/beginning of the day. We will definitely make another trip just to spend more time at the seaport. The nice thing about the seaport is the admission is a two day admission so if you don't want to do all that driving in one day you can stay over and go back for free the next day.
I hope this gives you some new ideas if you've never been there before.

Also great place to go hiking is at Kent Falls...the trail goes up alongside the falls.
