I'm not a cook, but I use a potato cookbook for reference. They suggest 350, poked halfway through, washed (of course), but no exterior butter or oil.

all good stuff guys!
Just a little time save for you hard working moms, wash your spuds, fork a few whole in them and stick them in the microwave till they are half cooked than into the oven, will cut the cooking time dramatically and they will still have that nice oven crispiness!
also works well if you are going to boil them for hasbrowns or what have you, got to love the spud!

no problem! I always love to share good recipes!

Silvio, does the book say for how long to cook at 350*? I'm sure it depends on size, though.

We've always done for an hour or hour and 15min.

Yes, depends on the size, using the soft towel-squeeze method to see when it feels done.

Sweet potatoes baked at around 400 for about an hour to an hour and ten minutes. Usually baste the outside with olive oil and then sprinkle some cinnamon-sugar mix on them and some butter. Mmmm.
