Default Looking for a BBQ beef crock pot recipe

Currently if I bbq a roast in the crock pot I throw a roast in, add a bit of water and spices and let it cook on low. Then remove, shred, and add sauce.

Tastes like shit. Do you guys have a better recipe?

Also, which roast works best? I have a freezer full of different cuts.

well Ive only done bbq in a crock pot a couple times and its always disappointing compared to on a smoker. What Ive always done with the crock pot is just cook the meat, drain off the fat, add sauce, continue to cook to marry-in the sauce.

Boneless Chuck roast is a good bet. The kind used for stew, it shreds nicely when done. Its fatty and oily so you want to drain off the fat.

Im not as well versed on BBQ beef as I am pork. For pork you definitely want to use pork butt/shoulder. But there are other ways, cooking a pork loin, slicing it, sauce it.

I agree that it'll never compare to the smoker but the weather is just too crappy for that.

Thanks man.
