Make it easy on yourself. Marinate in Italian dressing, throw in some garlic, rosemary, basil, salt, pepper and whatever else you think works. At least 24 hours.

Since Jeff already suggested this I wasn't about to add a "me too" post, but seeing you're still looking, that is how we do it. Perhaps I should say, "did"; as we haven't had any for a LONG time. Enjoy.

I grew up on wild meat. One day I was eating something with hamburger in it and commented to mom that the meat must be bad as it tastes horrible. She replied, "it's beef." I didn't realise how much wild meat we ate until that moment.

BTW, to the avid BBQ'ers who live in the "south", have you ever tried BBQ in -40 weather? It takes a LONG time for the meat to cook. Unfortunately, you also miss out on the "first" BBQ of the season - it's the best BBQ of the year. Of course, this paragraph is subjective and just my opinion.

QV.... -20 or so, not -40 though. Not even with windchill. Get you an egg. Once it is up to temp you won't get the heat loss. It holds in heat like a beast.

What is the first BBQ of the year? Like we said before, we never stop. Even while living in God's Country. I guess January 1st?

Yeah, I think my max has been about -25. Sometimes you just gotta have a steak! But who knows, my need for a bloody bit of beef may just send me out at -40 this winter. We'll see.

I panfried the (marinated) venison steaks tonight with mashed potatoes and peas on the side. Forgot about the applesauce, but it was still very good. The wife was impressed.

It was 0 degrees. Do I get a pass on not using the grill?

Nope, man-up! I was grilling last night, it was a little awkward having to lean over the grill cuz I was standing a foot higher than usual with all the snow.

Im with HF, its never too cold to grill. I mean, how long are you outside for? A couple minutes? You dont have to be out there the whole time. I dont know about some of these guys, Hockey....
