Default Sugar Cookies

Does anyone have a good recipe for sugar cookies? I can't believe I'm about to make and feed these to my already active 23 mo, but thought I'd experiment with halloween shapes, icing etc. (The majority of them may be going to my wife's staff rather than my son.)

I have gotten recipes from this site for other things. I think I may go make some cookies. Those sounds really good.

Just made some vanilla wafers, homemade version of the boxed Nilla wafers but oh so much tastier.

These "Butter Cookies" from the folks at Moosewood never fail to taste awesome. Because, you know, BUTTER. And sugar. There are a few variations listed here (I made the jam-filled ones recently), but just plain with some sugar on top, these should be excellent.
