We actually had a boom last night and ran out a half hour before the township put the kabosh on things at 8. There were a LOT of middle to high schoolers this year too, which ticked me off because in the end I had to turn smaller kids away. There ought to be a cutoff. At one point I went inside to make myself a cup of hot tea and I think somebody cleaned us out while I was absent. I hope whoever it was gets LOTS of cavities.

Right when it started at 4:00 we took the kids out for about an hour. Left a huge plastic pumpkin full of candy on the front step with a sign that said to take one. When we got back there was a ton of candy left. So my wife took the sign down thinking we'd have too much left over. The remainder, probably 2/3 of the total was gone in 20 minutes.

We haven't given out candy in years. We're in a cul-de-sac and no kids come down to trick or treat.

Been fighting a cold all weekend long. Of course yesterday didnít help as I spent most of the morning at an ice rink (two kids, two different age groups and practice times). Then took the oldest to a nature center where his Cub Scout pack was assisting in trail cleanup. So I spent 3 hours outside shoveling mulch. Then finished the day by going back to an ice rink for my hockey game.

Definitely taking today off as it were.

Well, on the infamous Black Friday we picked up a new car for the wife. She ended up with a 2017 Nissan Rogue SV. Itís pretty nice, though itís strange that there isnít a key. Just a little fob. Press start to go! Now I feel like some backwoods hick having to use a key to turn on the ignition in my truck. She hasnít let me drive it yet, but I enjoyed taking advantage of the heated passenger seat.

Good luck with the new ride Gduck! I want to go on the record as saying I HATE the keyless fobs that cars come with cars now. My wife has a car with that feature and it looks like the entire industry is going that way. Walk away from a running car that you are warming up at 5:00 AM and the car locks and honks the horn so you wake the neighbors. I always take the spare set of keys on log trips just in case. With the second fob in the car it can be a big PIA. My brother told me a story over the weekend from a few weeks ago. He and his wife were taking their daughter and her friends to the Bronx zoo. He had to run into Manhattan NY for some quick business. When he got to the parking garage he discovered his wife kept the key fob in her purse and was walking around the Bronx Zoo and he was a borough away and could not turn off his engine because if he did it he could not start it. Total shit show. I just don't get keyless starting. I think it is just a nuisance posing as luxury. And if you think losing keys can be expensive you don't want to lose a key fob.

Iíll have to reserve judgement on the keyless fobs until weíve had it for awhile. Right now itís more just kind of a toy that you play with because itís a novelty. But since I mostly drive my truck anyway I wonít have nearly as much time with it as the wife does. I can see where in a lot of those scenarios it would be a pain in the ass.

The fob is great for my wife, she just keeps it in her purse/bag whatever. She probably couldn't even find in there in a hurry if she had to.
