I looked into personal training. It's not included in my $85 a month family membership. It costs $40 a half hour. Pfft. No thank you. I hate being "nickle and dimed" to death.

PS: does anybody use the "Map my ride" or "Map my walk" apps. I'm trying to figure out how to post my workouts to Instagram. It kinda ties into the whole "what do you do with your time since you don't do anything all day?" thing.
Back when I was riding my bike a lot I used Endomondo

Was pretty good

Got the wife the Peloton she wanted for Mother's day. Nice machine. 39 months no interest deal. What irked me was the $250 delivery and setup charge. Took the guts less than 30 minutes. Someone here said they were thinking about getting one also. If you know someone or somewhere with an active account you can use them as a referral and get $100credit for accessories. I got a free mat and toe clips. My wife used the apartment complex she stays in when in Boston as a referral. just a heads up. I will try the machine soon.

As I said elsewhere, I've been trying to ride my bike more. I joined the Trek Bikes Centurion Challenge on Strava and have been using it to track my rides. I was using Map My Ride before but I'm warming up to Strava.

I'm currently at 78.8 miles and have one day left. My daily "maintenance" route is 14 miles that takes about 1-1/2 hours that I would like to do before dinner. We have an appointment tomorrow morning but maybe I can get another maintenance ride in after.

The people on the leaderboard on Strava are inhuman though. I can't believe there are people who ride over 1000 miles a month. That's over 30 miles a day with no days off.

We have a friend with type 2 diabetes, a shopping addiction and a food addiction. Heís also a trained chef and makes a 5 cheese Mac and cheese thatís to die for. In his case, almost literally; he had a heart attack about 3 years ago and had a triple bypass. He also had gastric bypass surgery before that and had lost weight. He also had a shit job where they cut benefits and paychecks werenít clearing so the heart attack was probably partly induced by stress.

He was off work for awhile but eventually got back to it and signed on with Terminex spraying bugs. Hopefully the job doesnít kill him because heís working 60 hours a week, 6 days a week.

Ironically, heís in the best shape Iíve seen him. Heís cut his insulin intake in half and is down to 215. Heís not about to join us on bicycle rides - unless he goes out and buys a top of the line e-bike.

That shopping addiction...smh.

Anyway, Iím taking inspiration from his efforts; heís only 12 pounds heavier than me and I feel like death some days with all the aches and pains. I know Iíve said this many times, but I need to set up a daily routine of starting out active - and not eating so damn much at dinner.

I read that riding an hour a day will help contribute to weight loss more that one big 4 hour ride a week (duh!!) so this morning once Joey was on the bus I decided to go for a 14 mile ride. Weather was beautiful and going early means no baby carriages and less dogs on the local trail.

My wife went and bought a Peloton, I've ballooned over the last couple of years into a bloated slob. The bike will go in the basement which has a bathroom with a shower. I plan on laying out my clothes for work the night before down there, waking up 45 minutes early, hopping on the bike for 30 minutes (who am I kidding, 3 minutes at the beginning) jumping in the shower and going straight to work. I gotta do something, I'm 51 and the grim reaper is creeping up on me
