Default Do You Donate Blood?

After an 11 year hiatus I donated blood today at our local library. Back in the days when I worked my company had 2-3 Blood Drives a year so it was easy to donate on a regular basis. When the kids were younger it was just impossible to do it. I have been meaning to get back into it regularly for some time now that they are older. The site was right next to where my daughter had camp. Too easy. I was informed that there is a local full time blood bank a few miles from where I donated. They have my info and will e-mail me when I am good to go again. For those of you who have never donated you should consider it. There are really very few excuses not to donate.

Whenever possible. Like you say, it's hard when the kids are little though....they only go until 5:30 or 6 around here, so it's a pain to get someone to find a sitter.

Used to until one time I passed out and then got diagnosed with Diabetes. They haven't called me to donate blood since!

Yep, just AIDS, Hep, and traveling the 3rd world countries.

Sure, donated many times. But the time between marriage and kids I did a lot of traveling to central america and that was on the "no go" list. So I had excuses. Still, done it many times.

I was donating every chance I got. Until that day I passed out, the blood center was sending me e-mails and such reminding me about when it was time to donate again. And now... Not a single word from them.

And seizures, which keep you off the donation list for a period of time. I used to donate often, that kept me on the shelf awhile. Do it now when a blood drive is in an opportune spot, which isn't often.

Convenience is key. I was informed that our local blood bank has fixed donating days of Saturday and Wednesday. Knowing that it makes it a bit more easier to make a steady appointment. Y'all might want to look into that if interested.

Our blood center has a few busses that they drive around town and advertise where they are going to be.

whenever I can. Last time I gave a double , where they pull it out, spin it, and only keep the plasma (i think) and put back in the rest.
