I think it's a target. I usually call them tramp stamps. LOL.

Don,
One sitting, about 4 1/2 hours.
Yes, first piece.
No on the artist but I had done alot of research and visited many places. Had to wait 3 months for my artist.

Story,
tattoo is a version of the Sacred Heart of Jesus:

Heart represents endurance & strength
Fire-energy and passion
Thorns-obstacles and difficulties. However in the thorns are the letters A & T. The first letters on each of my sons names. Hence overcoming the obstacles.

There is alot more about the meaning but I should not do it here. If interested I would be more than happy to email ,Don.

Yep. the artist was great. We would break about every hour for about 10 minutes. 4 1/2 hours later, done. It started to get annoying at around 3 1/2 hours when he was doing the coloring. I would have no problem doing again. great experience.

I have also been thinking about getting a tattoo for my little girl, just don't know what I want... have been thinking about getting it on the left side of my neck, because she is the best thing in my life, but I am trying to think for the future when she is older...not sure she wants her dad walking around with her name on his neck haha...

but, i say go with the tattoo as long as it is something you want to get done!

ok....reviving an old thread here. Got #6 yesterday.

It's about my son (and music, my other passion) always being on my mind and in my heart. The face is modeled after the peaceful man on the moon face & is shaped like an anatomical heart. That was the artist's idea, I told him it was perfect as I was an RN and EMT, so he had the idea of adding in the EKG rhythms.

In the first picture you'll see the drawings around the existing one of me and my son, modeled after a Willow Tree statue. That's the central part, what's "on my mind".

The next pictures are the finished ones. Total session was an hour of talking, 45 minutes of free-hand drawing and 3.5 hours in the chair.

Nice sentiment. Tattoos are not for me though. I can handle the needles fine but unfortunately God gave me a pelt, not bare skin.

Thanks guys. He really impressed me with his 'bigger picture' ideas, very artistic and philosophical, so we were a good match. Not to mention a father to 4, so we talked a LOT about kids.

I have a similar willow-tree type one for my daughter on my other arm...she saw this new one and said "what about me? Am I still just floating there on your other arm?" lol.

This tat was a lot less expensive than I had imagined, less than half of what I saved, so I'll probably do the other arm sooner than anticipated. It's a big birthday year for me, so these are kind of my b-day presents to myself (even though my bday isn't til July).
