Default Wall Art

My son and I are looking to take this bag of bones and make it some wall art for our basement. The plan is to paint it candy apple red with working headlights mounted over the wall unit in the man...family cave.

Cool idea. You might look for an LED or other 110V solution for headlights. HD has some recessed LED lights for 6" cans that might work.

The stock 12V bulbs put out a little heat and might blind whoever is in front of them.

Reminds me of the mustang of my mis-spent youth.

Yeah, should be cool Mark. That's not off your car, is it?

Hell no! I found it on Craigslist. This shop was selling it. Mustang heaven! I was spending $150 and they treated me like I was spending $100000. Even gave me a quick tour of the shop where they had cars ranging from a $3000 dune buggy being worked on to a $3,500,000 high performance race car right next to it. Too cool. Here is the link. The owner liked my idea and said to let him know how it works out "maybe we can start a business together". Not too sure it would be feasible.

Friend of mine did something similar with the busted hood from a NASCAR car. Had it hanging up in his pool room all scuffed and dented. I swear I could smell the burnt and ground rubber.. but it just looked so cool hanging there.

Bought all the paint, primer and bulbs last weekend. Going to dive into it this weekend. The boy wants to make the headlights work via remote. Looking into that. Have to rig up some kind of power supply for that. A trickle charger would be the easiest but not sure it will work. I have to hash out all the different hardware to help screw this thing together for mounting. Will post pics as we progress.

Look online. I've seen many of these done. I'm sure people have put up pictures, which may give you a few ideas. I also love the hoods from Nascar vehicles.

The project is complete and I could not be happier. The first go around with this added some time but if I do another one it will be much faster. The lights are running off a 12V car battery jumper (which I can disconnect in seconds and use if needed) that is wired to a 12V relay I found online that can be switched on remotely from anywhere in the basement. I hung the piece using some garage/shed tool storing track system from Home Depot. Incredibly nice clean, and I might say professional looking, install. Hard to see any wires. The total cost was a little under $300. My son can't wait to flash the lights on and off if and when the Rangers score a goal.
