Default 2019 Summer Break/Camp/Vacation plans?

It just hit us yesterday that there are less than 2 weeks left in school. We had a family talk about summer camp and our 12yo put up a hissy fit. I'm not about to let him just sit around and complain "I'm bored!" all summer when there are other things that I need to be focusing on, but it's looking like we need to find a better camp for him this year.

Is anybody in the same boat? What are your plans? I'll share my ideas if you will.

Same. She's a couch potato.
We looking for hangout dates with friends from her co-op.
She'll be going to a horse back camp. We are clients at the stable. We know the parents and the kids. Well behaved.
On a crappy day, grab all the puzzles in the house, spill them ALL on the living room floor in a pile, then stir it up, and begin the puzzle challenge.

No trips planned yet, might be tough to do anything past a weekend trip since the wife started a new job.

But my 15-year-old goes off to summer camp as a CIT (counselor in training) for the first 3 weeks of July. We get to pay for him to work, lol. He's been going to the camp for years, his older brother went too.

This is where I need some family or friends that have a farm... or at least in a few years. That's what my parents did with us. We got a few weeks on the "farm" and mom and dad had a few weeks of peace.

With a grandparent being displaced I find that I still have to play the tour guide. My mom and 12yo are jealous that my wife and I get to go to Canada by ourselves. We have to plan a weekend in August to take them up to Niagara Falls too.

Meanwhile, my mother is beginning to grumble about having to babysit a 12yo. I told her “join the club.” I still need to sign him up for camp.

Puzzles are too preschool. My kid is a budding inventor, but only in Minecraft and Roblox. At 12 he’s starting to be more socially aware - and isolated - by being one of the “smarter” kids. That being said, he prefers playing with the little kids. He is much more “bubbly” than his peers.

Sitting at the airport right now waiting to depart for SoCal! 2 days in San Diego...Brewers/Padres, zoo, then 4 days at Disney in Anaheim. First plane trip for the kids. We'll see how that goes!

Good luck, GB we’ll be on the California side of Lake Tahoe soon. The week after that is band camp for a week. Joe is looking forward to it. After that there’s literally only 3-4 weeks of summer vacation left. I don’t remember Summer being so short.
