Default stuffed green peppers recipe

Not sure if anyone on here likes these but i thought i would share them just in case....

Stuffed Green Peppers

* 2 cups water
* 1 cup uncooked white rice
* 3 large green bell peppers, halved and seeded
* 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
* 1 onion, diced
* garlic powder to taste
* salt to taste
* ground black pepper to taste
* 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
* 2 cups finely shredded mozzarella cheese


1. In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
3. Place green bell peppers in a medium saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes. Remove peppers from the water and set aside in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
4. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef; drain. Return to heat and mix in onion, cooked rice, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Pour in tomato sauce and mix thoroughly. Let simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
5. Spoon the meat mixture onto each half of the green peppers. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until mixture begins to turn golden brown.
6. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top of each stuffed pepper. Return to the oven and bake until cheese is lightly browned, about 5 to 10 minutes.

oh yeah man. I had a thread on some a while back. Just whipped em together with stuff I had on hand. Turned out pretty good. (Ive since replaced the non-matching white stove!)

My mom used to make those for me and i havent had them since....I am making them tonight. I sure hope they turn out right, and that the kids eat em lol

Nice, I love stuffed peppers. Got enough big peppers in the garden to make some this week.
Last time I made them I used half ground beef and half sausage. It was pretty good stuff.

Thanks for sharing. I used to eat a lot of them growing up, but my wife doesn't like them. Every few months my in-laws will make them and make a couple extra for me. Mmmmmmm.

I used to hate those when I was a kid, but now I love peppers.

Another version I ran across somewhere is to make up a meatloaf type mixture, slice the peppers into 1 inch thick rings, stuff in the mixture and pan fry or bake 'em.

If your kids don't like the green peppers, try the sweeter red/yellow/orange varieties.
