Default Anybody have a rowing machine?

I've been considering a rowing machine, something towards the low end (under $300). Anybody have some input? I'm still up in the air between the magnetic and hydraulic models.

Keep an eye on Craigslist and see if you can find a used Concept 2 for under your budget. They do pop up for less than that and are pretty much unbreakable.

Having put some k's on a concept 2, I second stretch's notion. If we had the space I would own one. Save a ton on the gym membership too...

Take your kids, rent a 'row' boat.

It'll be an adventure while the leaves change.

I have seen many references to the Concept 2 while reading other reviews. Maybe finding a used one will be something to look into now. The budget's a bit tight to justify dropping $900+ right now. Though if I do spend a good chunk of change I'd rather spend more if I'm going to get a much better product. Thanks for the suggestions!

I do get out on the lake at the park next to us with the canoe rentals, though I'm waiting until my 16mo gets a bit older and can keep herself afloat at least before I take her out.

Default Finally got one

I scored a good deal on Amazon for a Stamina 1205 rower. $175: was half off plus saved an extra $35 with free shipping!

I've been using it for a week now and it as exceeded my expectations; very sturdy, smooth, and has a cushy seat so my ass doesn't get sore. I'm building up slowly so I don't screw up my lower back. I usually do 2 or 3 sets of 50-10 strokes to limber up during the day, but am now starting to get my rhythm going and can start getting into cardio soon.

For $175 I'd say I found a good piece of equipment that maximizes my muscle use and doesn't take up too much room. This should hold me over until the weather warms up again and prevent my usual winter weight gain and sluggishness.
