Default Gettin' back at it

I haven't really been good with the running or working out since getting ready to move, uh, back in May...and it shows.

The hiking trip in August was good for kickstarting my desire to get back at it, but I just couldn't find the time. Now that the family is pretty much settled into our routines, it's a good time to incorporate working out back into my day.

The best time for me is about 4:30AM....it starts the day off right, not to mention it gets it out of the way. It also helps me fall asleep a lot easier at night being up for that long!

I'm doing the 'New Rules of Lifting' Fat-Loss program again. I have done it before and saw great results from it. So if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I've got about 30lbs to drop to get to my goal...the first 10 will be easy, I can do that in about 2 weeks (I found that I can put on and take off 'water weight' really quickly) I just gotta stay diligent with my food intake and not come up with excuses to not hit the gym.

I was getting really good at having about a half an hour a day on the elliptical in the basement (henceforth referred to as, "The Machine"), but then stupid life got in the way. You know, that thing that happens while your busy making other plans?
On the other hand, when I get really busy I forget to eat, so it keeps the weight stable, and maybe those top few extra pounds drop off by themselves.

Glad to hear you're back at it, Don.

I had just gotten back to a routine, then the boy and I both got sick, then the wife left for a week, then...

...I'm feeling better, so maybe today's the day I start again. I'm tired of feeling tired.

Not sure what kind of illness you had NCD but I find if I have something like a cold , working out helps me sweat it out faster and handle it better. It might be just in my head but it seems to work.

I am with you on this. I was getting back to a regular 2-mile walk/run on the treadmill a week or so ago, during nap times. Then the kids got sick etc. etc. etc. excuse, excuse, excuse and I felt I needed sleep more than the run. Probably backwards thinking, as I will sleep better if I get the exercise.
My problem is not so much the weight as general health. Must get back to it.

Thought this thread was gonna be about something else!

I need to start rowing on the C2 again. That's my favorite winter suffering.

That is exactly what I thought. Needless to say I was a bit disillusioned and quite disappointed.

good luck Don!

I need to get back at it also. Been pretty busy after I drop of the girls, but that should be better and next week I'll have time to hit the gym in the AM after dropping them off. Hopefully I'll be able to make it a habit and won't let it slip like last year.

Glad you are back at it. Summers are a bad time for me to find time to work out. Kids everywhere, wanting to go 10 different directions. I was glad when school started so I could get back into a routine.

Keep at it...
