Default Pool Time

Broke down and joined a local swim club for me and the boys. Been swimming laps all week and forgot how fun it is to swim outside as opposed to an indoor pool. Any of you swim outside in the summer? Swimming is a great workout and feels good too.

Word!

been doing some swimming in our pool, and even a little water running as non-impact training when I hurt my foot a while ago. It looks really, really...uh, lame...but it works.

swimming rocks!

One thing I miss about our old neighborhood was the new rec center they had built right before we moved. It had a really nice lap pool that I took advantage of a lot. The city we're in now has a crappy pool that you can only swim width-wise in. And our outdoor pool in our development isn't open for lap swimming in the morning.

It amazes me how few and far between the pools are around here. No lakes either. I'm going through some serious withdrawal. We may have to bite the bullet and pay to join another townships rec center with its brand new Olympic sized pool and indoor/outdoor water play area. Here's a pic:

I am sick of our pool already and it is only July! I am the pool committee chairman in our hood. In the last week I have had a 12 year old stand on an acrylic table top to open an umbrella. The worst part was not that he went through it and cut himself, it was that the guard on duty put the damaged table that only needed a replacement top (that are being delivered today almost 2 months late) down by the dumpster to keep it safely out of the way and the garbage men toted it off not knowing they crushed a perfectly good $500 Sundrella table frame.

Prior to this posting I rifled off an email to a resident in our "AARP" section that she was NOT entitled to a 10 free guest passes as rumored by her posse even though in her original e-mail she told me she would probably never use them but "wants to find out how to get these things". I can't wait for Labor Day.
