Nhl 2011-2012

Well the Rangers have kicked off a 4 game publicity stunt in Europe thanks to Mr. Bettman. They play on the larger rinks. Dumb. Then the Rangers get to hang out for another week or so and play a few NHL games there before coming back to NY to play 1 game on Long Island. After that they get to fly to the west coast to play a number of games. All told, the NY Rangers are on a 1 month road trip basically in 4-5 time zones. What a recipe for disaster. At least I have my excuse as to why they wont win the cup locked and loaded.

I'm not a fan of these NHL games being played over seas. Going to screw with a few teams at the start of the season.

I think its dumb in all sports, but especially those where they can play multiple games in the same week. Oh well, gives some of us something to whine about and make excuses about as the season begins.

I'm not a fan of it either, but there really are a lot of NHL fans in Europe so it makes good marketing sense for the NHL to do it. I'm on Letsgowings.com and the number of fans on the forum from Europe is amazing.

The Wings had to do the Europe thing at the end of a short summer after winning the Stanley Cup. The Swedes were happy to play in front of their friends and families, but it didn't help them get off to a good start, that's for sure.

Sabres start overseas. The people in that town are depressed enough, one night out at a Sabres game is one of the few things that area has going for it. Pair that with the Bills playing games in Toronto and the area takes a economic hit for those 2 games this year (1 Bills, 1 Sabres). I bet 1 Bills game cost the Buffalo area a few million in revenue.
