Nah, I'll do something more worthwhile with my money, like setting it on fire.

I will play if I can remember tonight. Might be a waste of a few bucks but why not.

Daydreaming about the winnings makes it fun. Gotta be in it to win it.

We'll drop another couple bucks on it even though I'll still call it an idiot tax.

"Gotta be in it to win it" is probably the greatest marketing phrase ever conceived.

OTOH, while the studies are correct that you have a better chance of being struck by lightning on a clear study day than winning this thing, I think they forget that outside of something like this, most shlubs have an easy lesser chance of stumbling into such a pile of cash, so I see the point.

Still, I find it a bit odd that (WARNING!!!! Semi-political content below! Read at your own peril -- which means that no one won't abstain, of course).......

It seems to violate conservative/free market principles when:
1. State-profiting gambling is allowed in many places where it is illegal to privately operate such operations.
2. Many in society opposes tax increases, but oddly do not mind giving money to the government for essentially nothing.

Oh, and there was an article in the local paper today about how they are putting signs up in local lottery places telling parents that "lottery tickets do not make appropriate xmas gifts for kids." Duh.

Hold on pal!! I just heard that a $2 ticket with only 1 correct number on it can fetch $4 due to the size of the prize!

Essentially nothing?! It goes to schools and roads I thought?

At least it goes to schools in GA. Some states get it right.

My wife's coworkers pooled their cash together and bought 90 tickets, c'mon lucky number...

I'll pick up a few. I hate ti that they are $2.00 a ticket, used to be a buck last year. Mega is still $1.
