Well I'm feeling a bit anxious today. For a long while I've played in a local adult hockey league (beer league). Last year I couldn't play at all because of all the health issues I had been dealing with. Things are mostly better now, and after over a year of not being on the ice, I'm going to be playing in a mini-tournament this weekend. 4 games over 3 days... one way or another it's going to be quite the experience.

Good luck, gduck - but don't break anything. Think of it as validation for getting back in shape. Just getting back on the ice should be a victory.

By the way, I'm saying the same for Sidney Crosby.

Survived the hockey weekend. We ended up finishing second. Much beer was had so it was all good. Of course Sunday night and all of Monday I felt like I could barely lift my legs or arms. I seriously need to get back in to some kind of workout routine.

So random question for all: Considering whether to add a pest and termite plan. How many of you guys have one. I had one at the last house and it seemed like a waste of money but without one the treatment gets to be expensive.

I had a termite plan once when we lived in ATL, apparently it is a big problem there. The house we bought was a resale that had the coverage already along with a Bonded contract. I guess it comes down to where you live to determine if it is worth it or not.

We had a pest plan the first year, but I didn't renew for a second year. Since we didn't want any pest treatment inside the house (pets and kids), the guy just took a sack of granules and poured them around the perimeter of the house.

Another guy from the same company tried real hard to sell us on termite treatment, but after having termites in my previous old slab house and knowing what to look for, I turned him down. This house is on a crawl space with the closest point to the ground is past over 4 feet concrete block. He was not real happy with me but oh well.

I've noticed that many of my neighbors still get quarterly visits from this company, so I guess their hard sell is somewhat effective. I just don't feel the need to pay $300+ a year for something that costs me less than a $100 to maintain on my own.

Count me as a sucker. There is no confidence in my spider or insect killing abilities. That being said, our exterminator has hooked me up with some contractors over the years. What really stings is that I've never had the courage to tell him that when he calls me "Mister _____" he's actually using my wife's maiden name. She never changed it for professional reasons.
