Default Flat panel Monitors - Analog or Digital?

What's the difference between an analog and digital flat panel monitor?

Dell's giving away Flat Panel analogs, but the digital flavor is $300 or more. Whyizzit?

I happened on a Dell kiosk the other day and the only difference they stated was that a digital monitor would accept cable tv. Since I go to the computer to get away from TV, I don't care much about getting TV on my computer.

I believe there is just a larger viewable area and they save space. Don't think there is any difference other than that; however, the quality may be a little less on the flat analog in comparison to the regular monitor.
